The Institute of Construction Industry Arbitrators (ICIArb), formerly known as Society of Construction Industry Arbitrators (SCIARB), was established in 1993 as a specialist Arbitration and Alternative Disputes Resolution (ADR) body in the Construction Industry.

EMPANELMENT OF MEMBERS
Ordinarily, members are not certified as Arbitrators until they attend sufficent seminars and workstudy (workstudy sessions) of the Institute (ICIArb). It is after adequate credit points have been achieved that the members are assigned to appropriate panels for Arbitration proceedings.

Arbitration
Arbitration is a private dispute resolution mechanism established to settle disputes by a neutral third party known as the "the Arbitrator" or panel of Neutrals referred to as the Arbitral Tribunal and that is where ICIArb comes in.
Concilliation
Conciliation is a system of Alternative dispute resolution where ICIArb comes in as the third party, known as the conciliator and uses its best endeavors to bring the disputing parties together to arrive at a mutual settlement
Adjudication Dispute Board
As an adjudication dispute board, ICIArb helps expedite and deliver a court's resolution regarding an issue between two parties. The result of the process is a judgment and court opinion that's legally binding
Negotiation
A problem-solving process in which the parties to a dispute or an imminent dispute come together voluntarily, either personally or by their representatives, to discuss their differences and make an attempt to reach a joint resolution.
Mediation
ICIArb plays the mediator's role to expedite the resolution of disputes in the constriction industry. As the mediator, ICIArb promotes understanding between the parties, facilitates communication, focuses the parties on their interest, and uses creative problem techniques to enable the parties to reach their own mutual agreement.
